Training

We provide a wide range of training programs aimed at the healthcare sector. We can also deliver courses on site nationwide. Our customers include nursing and residential homes, hospitals, housing associations and national charities among others.

All courses are in line with the new National Care Standards and in accordance with TOPP’s. All courses are taught by a qualified instructor.

Health and Safety - one day

Course objectives – to understand the legal responsibilities of the employer, and employee as set out in the health and safety at work act, the reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences and the control of substances hazardous to health, identify risks and potential hazards in the workplace and take the necessary control measures and to understand the worker’s responsibility when handling and disposing of clinical waste.

Basic Food Hygiene - one day

Course Objectives – to be able to apply food hygiene and awareness through correct practice and controls when handling food, to identify potential food safety hazards within the workplace, to understand the extent of the risk of food poisoning and how this relates to the important of food hygiene, to know how to store food safely and the correct temperature control and to understand the importance of personal hygiene when handling food and maintaining

Protection of vulnerable adults from abuse (POVA) - one day

This course is aimed at all healthcare staff, to promote good practice, and guard against any kind of exploitation, neglect or abuse of vulnerable adults. There is now a greater recognition that abuse does occur and this course gives healthcare staff a fuller understanding of how and why it occurs, action to take when it happens and steps to prevent further abuse. Some of the course content includes, definitions of abuse, types of abuse, recognition of abuse – signs and symptoms, guidance on alerting and reporting abuse.

People handling awareness - one day

Untold pain and misery can be caused, and entire careers ruined by an improper lift or just one person or heavy object. That’s why this course is vital for anyone involved in the care of others. Our certificated course combines theory with practical experience, providing your care staff with a solid grounding in people handling awareness. Course content includes, legislation, statistics on manual handling injuries, causes of back injury; anatomy of the spine using our full body skeleton, biomechanics, avoiding injury by assessing the risks, handling practices and condemned lifts, practical session. In our practical session students will be expected to use and try out our electric hoist, manoeuvres on our electric bed, commode and wheelchair and practice with our various handling aids.

Basic first aid - one day

This course is designed for all healthcare workers. The course objectives are to, be able to make an initial assessment of the casualty and recognise a range of signs and symptoms associated with accidents and medical emergencies, in particular those which occur in the workplace, know how to administer immediate first aid/treatment to the casualty. Through demonstration and practice, be confident to carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation, reporting and documenting events, to have gained the competence to be the first person called in the event of an emergency. Some of the course content covers, assessment of the casualty, immediate care – position and safety of the environment, demonstration and practice of CPR using a mannequin (resus Annie), bleeding, choking, fractures, epilepsy, shock, angina, respiratory difficulties and much more. All students will be assessed throughout the course and will have to pass an examination both theory and practical

Basic fire safety course - 4 hours

This course is designed to reduce the risks of fire and create a fire safety awareness within the company with training for all staff. Why not book an in-house course for up to 10 candidates for only £350 inc.
